Course description:
This course will be exploring the role that art, specifically the art of spoken word, plays in creating change within our communities. We will be using discussions, writing sessions, performances, and readings to discuss pressing social issues and how we can turn art into action. You do not need to be a writer to partake in this wonderful community building experience. We encourage all to come share and bring truth to power.
Class Time: 5pm-6:30pm
Class Dates: Wednesdays, from October 1st to November 26th
Place: WSAC office in Coffman Union

What experience do you bring to this class? We are performers, playwrights, and activists. We have run workshops in the past and continue to work as educators within the community. We are also mentors with the Minnesota Spoken Word Association (MNSWA).
